Here at BeOutdoors, we're big, big fans of womens Rab Clothing so we were especially happy to find this video of Helen Robinson who's a Rab clothing designer. It's really interesting, and takes you through all of the testing that Rab do, especially for the womens range.



Helen's got it down to a 't' on the colours that are chosen for the women's range of Rab Clothing, and (being of the female persuasion herself) obviously understands the female form. If you look at the Rab Neutrino Jacket , you'll see that even though it's a lovely warm down jacket, the shape isn't bulky - quite the opposite! It's a lovely flattering fit for most women.

When it comes to women's outdoor clothing, Rab specialise in producing clothing for extreme weather conditions.

Down Jackets from Rab

Rab have a reputation for being one of the best producers of down products in the world. They are committed to making outstanding gear with a strong focus on functional design with high quality fabrics and goose down.

A massive growth area for Rab is their women's specific range of Rab clothing , which has grown year on year. An example of this is the new Womens Rab Ascent Jacket, this is not just a scaled down version of the mens, but a jacket which has been designed and cut especially for women.

Another great jacket in the range is the lighter weight Women's Rab Microlight Jacket which offers great warmth for weight ratio and is perfect for layering under a waterproof jacket. Rab also do great Gilets, which are designed to keep your core body warm. The best known is the women's Neutrino Vest  which was named 'Best Buy Girlie Gilets Down' by TGO magazine. The Microlight Jacket also comes in a Gilet (Microlight Vest) for a lighter weight option.

It's not just Down that Rab have a reputation for, they have grown their range of womens Insulation Jackets like the hugely popular Women's Photon Jacket and the womens Generator Jacket. As well as down products, Rab also produce top quality waterproofs, soft shells and fleeces.

Waterproof Shell

Rab use performance fabrics in their shell clothing and their fabrics range from the highly breathable and waterproof eVent® fabric to their Pertex range. One of their best women's shell jackets is the women's Rab Latok Jacket, designed as a summer Alpine climbing jacket, this jacket has had great reviews, as well as receiving the Most Breathable Award, it was recommended in TRAIL magazine as the 'best for year round mountain walking'. Rab do two women's lightweight waterproof jackets, the popular 2 layer Rab Momentum Jacket , and the 2 layer Rab Jet Jacket, which is excellent value for money.

If you are looking for an extremely lightweight packable waterproof jacket, then Rab's Jetstream Jacket is the perfect solution, although the Pertex waterproof fabric is not as breathable as the eVent® fabric it is perfect for running and cycling when you need protection without the bulk and weight.

Soft Shell

New to the market are soft shells. Rab have used soft shell technology to develop a great womens jacket. The Women's Rab Baltoro Lite Jacket is a beautifully engineered softshell jacket made from Polartec® Powershield. This jacket allows great comfort and flexibility, yet provides excellent protection.

Trousers

One of RAB's best selling trousers is the womens Rab Treklite Pants. These are year round mountain leg wear in wind resistant fabric to provide optimum comfort, movement and protection when traveling.

Vapour-rise

Washing Tips

If you check out the label in your lovely Rab jacket, it says that 'Rab recommend professional cleaning'. We think that they're probably overdoing it a bit there. No need to worry - what you need to do is to wash your shell jackets (NOT your Rab Down Jacket) in plain old soap flakes. We don't mean the stuff you put in your washing machine, we mean the sort of flaked soap that your gran might wash her woolens in. You may want to refresh the waterproofing once in a while with a special waterproofing agent (we don't sell them, but you'll get them in an outdoor shop locally), but you don't need to do this every time. Rab jackets just keep on bouncing back.
